Stari Most, Mostar
Stari Most is the star sight to see in the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The bridge dates from the 16th century, the Ottoman period. It was destroyed in 1993 during the War and reconstructed to look like the original. The bridge connects the two parts of Mostar which name is often translated as "bridge-keeper”. The Stari Most was constructed during the reign of sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and was the broadest man-made arch then. Because nothing is actually known about how the stones have been carried over to the other bank of the river Neretva, the bridge is considered a great architecture accomplishment.
Kravica Waterfalls
Kravica Waterfalls is the most beautiful waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina, formed by the waters of river Trebizat. The waterfalls are arranged in semicircle cliffs as the crystal water pours down into marvelous water pool filled with the emerald waters. The water falls from nearly 30 meters height and in combination with the surrounding stunning forest will leave you breathless. Sarajevo Cathedral
Sarajevo Cathedral also known as the Cathedral of Jesus' Heart is the biggest Catholic cathedral in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the Old Town of the capital city Sarajevo and it serves as the seat of Vrhbosanski Archbishop. The temple was constructed in the late 19th century, resembling the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, which can be seen in the combination of neo-Gothic style and Romanesque architecture. Mounts Bjelasnica and Jahorina
The mounts Bjelasnica and Jahorina are the crown jewels in the mountain sport in Bosnia and Herzigovina. Bjelasnica can praise itself with its highest peak reaching 2063 metres while the mount Jahorina is 1913 meters high. Both destinations are ideal for skiing and hiking as they hosted some of the races in the Winter Olympics in 1984. Both mounts are located near Sarajevo but still offer amazing mountain adventures far from the city lights. Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic Bridge
The Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic Bridge is the main attraction in Visnegrad. The bridge is another stunning example of Ottoman architecture. It was built in the 16th century and commissioned by the Grand Vizier Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic. Today, the bridge is part of UNESCO World Heritage List for its incredible historical value. The Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic Bridge consists of 11 arches with width from 11 to 15 meters. It is long nearly 180 meters and is often awarded as one of the greatest constructions made by the court architect Mimar Koca Sinan. Neretva River
Neretva River is the biggest karst river in the Dinaric Alps and one of the picturesque areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sutjeska Monumet
The Sutjeska Monument is located in the Sutjeska National Park, established in 1962. The park has both historical and ecological value as it preserves the last two primeval forests in Europe. The historical meaning comes from the location of the famous Battle of the Sutjeska that took place in 1943 during the World War II. On this very place led by Josip Tito, the Partisans have defeated the German soldiers. The monument consists of two confronting rocks as a symbol of the historical events happened on this field. Tara River Canyon
Tara River Canyon is another breath-taking natural phenomenon, part of the Tara National Park. The canyon is 82 kilometers long and in its deepest part it reaches 1300 meters depth. This record makes it the deepest canyon in Europe. The river itself has water falling with amazing speed which forms many waterfalls and cascades as well as the amazing Tara River Canyon. Neum
Neum is the only coastal city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located at 60 kilometers from the Croatian jewel Dubrovnik. Neum can praise itself with its numerous sunny days in a year and mild winters. The city has been populated from the 6th century although it has developed in the recent years. You can enjoy exploring the Old Town of Neum as well as the spectacular view towards the Adriatic Sea. As a tourist centre, Neum offers jet skiing, scuba-diving, boating, parasailing and of course sunbathing. So, Neum is an alternative and interesting option for your visit in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Medjugorje
Medjugorje is a small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located near the Croatian border, which has become very popular among pilgrims. In 1981 several children claimed to have seen the Virgin Mary who appeared before them. Her appearing continued for seven days in which she has prayed with them and shared secrets. According to local legends, the children who have witnessed that miracle continue to see Virgin Mary even though they no longer live there.
